Below Expectations - Try at Own Risk For those of you who believe negative ratings are the competition, this is not true.A friend of ours bought us a gift certificate in appreciation for a visit with us.The gift certificate had an expiration date on it of six months, and we tried to cash it in at eight.The manager rudely refused.Florida State Statutes 501.95 states that gift certificates CANNOT have an expiration date.The store manager would not honor it, and stated they had budgeted the money.We tried to negotiate the certificate for a lesser amount, but were refused.We tried to have the Florida Agricultural and Consumer Services mediate, but the shop refused to cooperate.Considering that the certificate was not a coupon, but a prepaid certificate, in my opinion, this is theft. Money paid for nothing in return.The manager was very rude to me and to my husband.We will never go there again, and we will not recommend the shop to anyone! I wonder if they have the permission to use the Alphonse Mucha print as their logo!

Top of the Line - Highly Recommended UH...OH...! Negative Rating, only can guess left by Competitor? Because, who ever has stopped at the Wine and Cheese place, there is only high stars to be awarded! Admirable business, great value, great atmosphere.And, very friendly. My husband and myself have been there many of times over the last 6 years. Every visitor we have taken with us, result was LOVE and many returns. Who can write any such negative comment? One can only guess! We award a TRUE 5 STAR to each: Friendliness, Value,Atmosphere,Fun and Character.

Unacceptable - Watch Out, Buyer Beware! I have been here too and greeted with rudeness by the owner. And INTHEINDUSTRY, stop using this review site as a personal forum board. This place has its negative reviews for a reason. They need help in providing a more professional appearance as a business! NOT RECOMMENDED!

Top of the Line - Highly Recommended I am a wine rep. I sell to Hammock Wine & Cheese (as well as to over 100 other fine shops). I am very suspect of the negative ratings I've read on this blog. I've been to Hammock in the course of business; I am almost always interrupting the folks there to call on them, so I get to see them in action with their customers. They know their stuff, they know their customers, they have a great selection (with fairly good prices), and I have never heard even a mildly testy word come out of an employees mouth. I will tell you - from an insiders perspective (and, by the way, I sell expensive small producer wines) - anyone who rates Hammock Wine & Cheese as unacceptable is either an unhappy person or a competitor (this is the one I believe). Send me an email - I'll discuss with you further.

Top of the Line - Highly Recommended Not sure what "Foodie" is talking about. I went in and was treated great. The owners took the time to educate me about several of their wines and helped me pair them with some wonderful cheeses. What a great place to sit outside and relax with a great glass of wine. You can't find anyplace else like this around.

Unacceptable - Watch Out, Buyer Beware! The owner was nasty and rude. he took out his frustration on me- this after I already bought $40 bucks worth of cheese! I left there completely insulted and provoked. When he failed to answer my questions sufficiently , He chastised me for asking! wtf? Not only was he frustrated over giving me a sample but he tried to brush it off with snobbery by only giving me a (poor) description. Also, He was completely condescending- and the cheese wasn't that well taken care of! I'll keep my money next time!

Top of the Line - Highly Recommended I've been going to Hammock Wine & Cheese Shoppe for years. I love this place. There's always something new to try when I go. Gary and Damien provide excellent customer service. They know what they carry and has always been able to answer all my questions.

Top of the Line - Highly Recommended contrary to what the previous review stated, the "man with the mustache" has always been friendly, interactive, and extremely helpful to me and anyone i have recommended go to the shop. both owners are always very full of knowledge about what they carry in-store. perhaps this knowledge came across to the previous reviewer as being pompous, but to me it is helpful. if ever i have a question it is answered well. they always give me great options, especially when i walk in on a budget and need the best quality for the least price. i never walk away empty handed or disappointed. i highly recommend going in, and i encourage questions and banter with the owners, they are wonderful people, worth the visit!!!!

Unacceptable - Watch Out, Buyer Beware! I went to the Hammock Wine and Cheese shop recently to purchase gift baskets for my clientel. The owner, some jerk with a mustache, was EXTREMELY rude and pompus! He talked down to me, and was just out right rude. I even noticed that some of the cheese on display was moldy, beyond what cheese should should be. I will never perchase ANYTHING from this merchant and I would advise anyone else to do the same. STAY AWAY FROM THIS JERK!!!! Besides his wine selection was less than desirable.

Top of the Line - Highly Recommended The Hammock Wine & Cheese Shoppe is one of the best things about the Hammock. Their Friday wine tastings are a great way to start the weekend... very relaxed atmosphere, with lots of friendly & unpretentious people. Wonderful selection of wines, cheeses and pates. The owners Gary & Damian are super nice and helpful. A must visit in Hammock Beach.

Top of the Line - Highly Recommended Found this shop by accident, while visiting FL from New York City. NICE selection of goodies & wine! A little over-crowded with people who THINK that they're 'highbrow', which gave us a good chuckle, since back home in NY, they wouldn't have a clue. But the owners are nice folks who seem to know a lot about their products & their enthusiasm is catching. I highly recommended this place.

Well Done - Would Use Again These guys are great!! My wife and I got some gift baskets here. They have lots of hard to find stuff. The store is a bit hard to find, and does not have a very good sign. But they are TRULY worth looking for!!
